How to Choose a Laundry Service for Short-Term Rentals: 7 Questions to Ask

You've decided to outsource laundry for your Airbnb. Great. Now comes the key question: how do you choose the right provider? Here are 7 questions that will make the process much easier.

1. What temperature do you wash at?

This is a fundamental hygiene question. The correct answer for Airbnb linen is at least 60°C. If a provider tells you "we wash at 40°C to protect the fabric" — keep looking.

At 40°C, dust mites, mold, and many bacteria are not eliminated. For linen shared by multiple guests, this is insufficient.

2. What detergents do you use?

Ask specifically: are they hypoallergenic? Certified? For guests with sensitive skin or allergies, this matters. A good provider will readily share brand names and certifications.

Red flag: "standard commercial detergents" with no further specification.

3. What is your guaranteed turnaround time?

For same-day turnovers, you need linen back within 24 hours. Ask precisely:

• What is the latest I can drop off linen?
• By what time will I receive it back?
• Does this apply on weekends and holidays?
• What happens if you miss the deadline?

4. Does the price include pickup, delivery, and ironing?

Price transparency is essential. Ask what's included:

• Is pickup and delivery included?
• Is ironing and folding included?
• Are weekend orders more expensive?
• How is pricing calculated — by weight, per item, per set?

A price "from 4€ per wash load" without further explanation is almost always misleading.

5. How do you handle stains and damaged linen?

• Do you inspect linen before washing?
• Do you notify me about stains that can't be removed?
• What happens if you damage my linen? (Compensation?)

6. Can you scale with my business?

If you plan to add properties, you need a provider who can grow with you:

• What is the maximum number of sets you can process per week?
• Do you offer volume discounts?
• Can you handle seasonal volume increases?

7. Do you have references from other Airbnb hosts?

This is a quick quality filter. A good provider will happily share reviews or connect you with reference customers. Also look at:

• Google reviews (search for mentions from Airbnb hosts)
• How long has the business been operating?
• Are they active on social media? (Signal of legitimacy)
